THE BASICS TO STARTING YOUR TRAINING JOURNEY WITH YOUR REACTIVE DOG.
REACTIVITY FUNDAMENTALS
ABOUT THIS PROGRAM:
Our Reactivity Fundamentals Program has been developed to introduce dog owners and their dogs to the very basics of training reactive behaviours.
Our biggest note to take away from our training style with any AW&B training program is we train YOU as the owner so you have all the skills needed to take on anything with your dog, confidently!
In your sessions we teach you the fundamentals of basic behavioural training from how to achieve loose lead walking, reliable obedience and how to more effectively communicate to your dog, with a big emphasis on engagement and clarity within our training. We will also cover all necessary steps for managing your dog around triggers.
We help you, help your dog by making sure your dog feels good from the inside out and starts the training with a healthy mindset that is ready to take on the work - no matter where we start or what the issue is. We do this by taking a holistic approach to dog training, where we don't just focus on the physical training, but we also focus on diet, lifestyle, correct outlets and your individual dogs needs within the training. We are able to even cater the training to your dogs breed to meet specific needs and outlets. We will give you all the skills, knowledge and tools to turn your dog into the best dog possible and improve your relationship with your dog.
During our sessions we will need you to be on top of your homework in between classes so that we can progress in our sessions. This means that you will have to practice daily what we learn in sessions (even if it is just 5minutes) and make sure your dog is exercised physically and mentally. Helping anxious, aggressive or reactive dogs AND even puppies or basic foundation cases starts at making sure they can do the basics right; we will not rush right into working on the big things if your dog does not have a grasp on the basic foundation training needed.
This is a GROUP training program (groups of 4). We generally advise against working with reactive dogs in a group environment in the early stages of their training and we want to be transparent with the fact that you will always get more in one on one training consults, especially with behavioural cases. If you believe your dog will struggle working in a group environment or may be a high risk, please enrol in a private program.

WEEK ONE:
Our first lesson will be WITHOUT your dog to prepare you for the following weeks to come so you can come into the first practical session confident and knowing what to expect.
We will begin by teaching you the foundations of dog training and providing you with a list of things to start doing with your dog prior to the first session inclusive of touching up on basic obedience, marker words and going over equipment.
Our team will also discuss biological outlets, nutrition and the breakdown of understanding your dogs mindset while exposed to triggers and much more.
WEEK 2 - 4:
Your dog will attend sessions 2-4.
We will start by working on some basic obedience and leash skills and implementation of marker words.
We will continue working on basic obedience, neutral behaviours and loose leash skills while increasing the range in which you work around other dogs. The level of distractions will increase and proximity to other dogs in which we work will decrease.
You will learn to teach your dog to be neutral around other dogs and you will also learn to walk your dog past other dogs with no reactions.
